Indian Army seeks remote-controlled 4x4 platforms for artillery relocation
The Indian Army is seeking vendors to develop a specialized 4x4 remotely operated mobility platform designed to tow field artillery guns. The primary objective of this new requirement is to enhance the survivability of artillery units through the use of “shoot-and-scoot” tactics, allowing for rapid deployment and immediate relocation after firing to avoid counter-battery fire from enemy drones or radar.
Technical specifications for the proposed unmanned vehicle include a 4,000 kg towing capacity, a 10 kW electric motor, and the ability to navigate 25 percent inclines. The platform is expected to maintain a speed of 8 to 10 km/h when fully loaded and achieve a range of approximately 20 kilometers. This remote-control capability is intended to keep soldiers out of harm's way by allowing them to reposition heavy equipment without being directly exposed to enemy fire during the relocation process.
