Indian automakers report strong sales growth for Maruti and Mahindra

Major Indian automakers are reporting significant sales milestones. Maruti Suzuki recorded a 34.81% year-on-year increase in sales for August 2026, moving 176,971 units. The Wagon R remains the company’s top-selling model with 20,180 units sold, representing a 38.68% increase compared to August 2025. Other high-performing models include the Swift, Fronx, and Ertiga, while sales for the Jimny, Invicto, and S-Presso saw a decline.

Separately, Mahindra has announced that its XUV 3XO SUV has surpassed 250,000 units sold in less than two and a half years. The model has become the company’s fastest-selling SUV, noted for its 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen and Level-2 ADAS in higher variants.
