India Cabinet approves 13,041 crore rupee infrastructure projects
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved five major infrastructure projects with a total estimated investment of approximately 13,041 crore rupees. These initiatives, developed under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aim to enhance multi-modal connectivity and reduce logistics costs across India.
The approval includes four railway multi-tracking projects totaling 9,450 crore rupees, designed to add approximately 410 kilometers of track capacity. These projects span West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh. Specific railway works include the Kharagpur-Bhadrak fourth line (3,352 crore rupees), the Bhadrak-Haridaspur fourth line (1,583 crore rupees), the Cuttack-Paradeep third and fourth lines (2,286 crore rupees), and the Gummidipundi-Gudur third and fourth lines (2,229 crore rupees).
Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned a highway project in Bihar to upgrade an 82.6 km section of NH-22 to a four-lane highway. Connecting Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, and Sonbarsa, this project is estimated to cost approximately 3,591 crore rupees and is expected to improve connectivity toward the Nepal border.
