Indian cricket squad updates: Jadeja's ODI status and T20I series draw

Speculation surrounds the future of Ravindra Jadeja in India’s One Day International (ODI) plans following his omission from the squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand. Although captain Shubman Gill previously described Jadeja’s absence from a match against the West Indies as rest, the player was not included in the subsequent ODI squad. Reports suggest selectors may be looking toward other options, such as Axar Patel, ahead of next year’s World Cup in South Africa. Statistics indicate a decline in Jadeja’s recent ODI bowling performance, with a higher economy rate and fewer wickets compared to Patel.

In T20I news, the series between India and the West Indies ended in a 2-2 draw after rain affected play in Bengaluru. Amidst the series, Shreyas Iyer addressed the lack of playing time for young batter Vaibhav Sooryanshi. Iyer advised the player to remain patient and focus on his process, noting that competition from established openers like Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson has limited opportunities for fringe players.
