Indian Navy INS Sudarshini docks in Baltimore, hosts Ambassador Vinay Kwatra

The Indian Navy’s training ship INS Sudarshini arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on 26 June as part of its “Lokayan 26” trans‑oceanic voyage. The ship’s visit coincided with the Sail250 Maryland events marking the United States’ 250th‑anniversary celebrations.

During the port call the vessel hosted Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Kwatra and Maryland Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, and the crew took part in the Baltimore City Parade. Earlier in the week the ship had joined Sail250 Virginia celebrations in Norfolk, after sailing more than 13,000 nautical miles from its home port of Kochi.

Indian officials highlighted the visit as a showcase of India’s maritime heritage and an opportunity to deepen naval cooperation and friendship between India and the United States.
