Indian Navy sail training ship INS Sudarshini departs Boston for Portugal after SAIL 250 celebrations

The Indian Navy’s sail training vessel INS Sudarshini left Boston, USA, on 27 July 2026 en route to Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Portugal. The departure follows the ship’s participation in the SAIL 250 celebrations and the International Naval Review 250, where it showcased India’s maritime heritage and acted as a diplomatic ambassador.

The voyage is part of the Lokayan 2026 trans‑oceanic expedition, reinforcing maritime partnerships with the United States and other nations. During its Boston stay the ship was open to visitors (12‑15 July) and featured a crew and cadet parade attended by Consul General Raghuram Sastry, highlighting cultural exchange and professional ties between India and its partners.
