RJD MLA Bhai Virendra calls for party overhaul after Bankipur bye‑election loss

Senior RJD legislator Bhai Virendra said the party must undergo a deep introspection following its poor showing in the Bankipur Assembly bye‑election. He urged a complete rebuild of the organisation, stressing the need to reconnect with voters at the grassroots level.

Virendra criticised several figures close to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, claiming they have become unpopular and should be removed. He argued that the party’s own mistakes led to the defeat and that capable, committed leaders must be brought into the mainstream and placed nearer to the top leadership.

He also noted that some traditional RJD supporters may have voted for Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, seeing him as the strongest candidate to defeat the BJP. Virendra rejected claims that former chief minister Nitish Kumar’s campaigning could have saved the BJP, instead accusing Kumar of strengthening the BJP’s position in Bihar and of presiding over high levels of corruption during his tenure.
