RJD internal restructuring after Bankipur loss

Overview

Following the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s poor performance in the Bankipur Assembly by‑poll on 3 August 2026, senior party legislator Bhai Virendra called for a deep organisational introspection and a complete rebuild to reconnect with grassroots voters. He criticised senior figures close to party leader Tejashwi Yadav and urged the inclusion of capable leaders.

Two days later, the RJD announced the dissolution of all its state‑level, district, block and panchayat committees in Bihar. The move, ordered by state president Mangni Lal Mandal after consultation with Tejashwi Yadav, tasked the party leadership with forming new committees to restore its grassroots structure ahead of future elections.
