Indian police dismantle multiple online betting and scam rackets

Police in two Indian regions have disrupted separate illegal operations involving online betting and financial fraud.

In Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, authorities arrested six individuals following a raid on a residence in Birta. The group is accused of operating an online betting racket through gaming platforms, using various bank accounts, UPI IDs, and QR codes to collect money from users across the country. Investigators seized 41 mobile phones and seven laptops, and are currently investigating the use of mule accounts to route funds.

In Thane, Maharashtra, police arrested 10 people for allegedly running a work-from-home scam. The suspects reportedly lured job seekers by collecting bank passbooks, ATM cards, and SIM cards under the guise of employment setup. The stolen funds were then diverted into illegal online betting and gaming sites. During a raid in Mumbai's Aarey Colony, officials seized 32 mobile phones, 46 ATM cards, 40 SIM cards, and four laptops. The suspects, originating from Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh, remain in police custody.
