Indian Prime Minister Modi to Attend Australia‑India Annual Leaders’ Summit in Melbourne

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Melbourne from July 8‑10 2026 for the Australia‑India Annual Leaders’ Summit, hosted by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The summit aims to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations, focusing on trade, defence, security and technology cooperation. Albanese highlighted India’s status as the world’s fourth‑largest and fastest‑growing economy and said the partnership “fosters peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo‑Pacific”.

The visit is part of Modi’s three‑nation tour that also includes a stop in Indonesia (July 6‑8) and a state visit to New Zealand (July 10‑11). Albanese recalled their last meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg in November 2025. The leaders plan to engage with the Indian diaspora and explore further economic and cultural links during the summit.
