Indian railway officials seize large quantities of ganja in separate operations
Authorities in India have conducted two separate major narcotics seizures involving cannabis (ganja) at railway stations.
In Cuttack, a joint operation by the Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police intercepted the Puri-LTT Express. Officials recovered approximately 115.93 kg of ganja hidden in seven trolley bags and a backpack. The contraband is estimated to be worth roughly Rs 57.96 lakh. Five individuals from Mumbai and Patna were arrested; they reportedly purchased the drugs in Bhubaneswar for transport to Mumbai.
Separately, at Secunderabad Railway Station, the Telangana Excise State Task Force seized 15.426 kg of ganja. The drugs were discovered in two abandoned bags on Platform 10 after suspects fled the scene upon noticing officials. The seized material is valued at approximately ₹8 lakh. An investigation is ongoing to identify the suspects and determine the origin and destination of the shipment.
