Indian Railways approves 5,165 NTPC recruitment vacancies for 2026

The Railway Board has approved the recruitment of 5,165 vacancies under the Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) for the year 2026. The approved positions are divided into graduate-level and under-graduate levels.

Of the total vacancies, 3,477 are for graduates. These include 2,750 Goods Train Managers, 371 Senior Clerks-cum-Typists, 300 Junior Accounts Assistants-cum-Typists, and 56 Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisors. For those with a 12th-grade education or below, 1,688 positions have been approved, comprising 700 Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerks, 600 Junior Clerks-cum-Typists, 200 Accounts Clerks-cum-Typists, and 188 Train Clerks.

Station Master vacancies are not included in this initial count of 5,165 and will be released separately, which may increase the total number of positions in the final notification. The recruitment process follows a structured timeline: zonal railways will submit vacancy details between September 7 and 15, followed by verification at the Chief Personnel Officer level from September 16 to 22. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will review data from September 23 to 25, with the process moving to nodal RRB levels starting September 26. Specific details regarding application dates, age limits, and exam schedules will be released in the centralized employment notification.
