Indian Railways: Engine derailment in Assam and new service in Rajasthan

Rail services in Assam's hilly regions were disrupted after the engine of the Silchar-Guwahati Express (Train No. 15615) derailed on the Badarpur railway bridge. No casualties have been reported. The incident led to the cancellation of the Guwahati-Silchar Express (Train No. 15516) and caused several other trains to be halted at various stations, affecting connectivity between the Barak Valley and the rest of the state.

Railway officials have commenced repair work to clear the affected section, with expectations to complete repairs by Thursday evening. The exact cause of the derailment is currently unknown.

In Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Sabarmati-Varanasi Superfast Express from Bhildi, Gujarat. The new service includes a scheduled stop at Abu Road station in the Sirohi district. This connection is intended to provide improved rail access for passengers traveling to religious sites such as Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi, and Prayagraj.
