Indian Special Forces depart for Exercise Garuda Shakti in Indonesia

An Indian Army contingent of Special Forces personnel has departed for Banyuwangi, Indonesia, to participate in the 12th edition of Exercise Garuda Shakti 2026. This bilateral military exercise is designed to enhance interoperability and combat readiness through the exchange of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for special operations.

The training will specifically focus on counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism scenarios within challenging jungle environments. Participants will engage in operations involving dense vegetation, difficult terrain, and restricted visibility to improve coordination and professional cooperation between the Indian Army and the Indonesian military.

In a related development of maritime cooperation, the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Shaunak conducted a goodwill visit to Jakarta from October 17–19, 2026. The visit included professional interactions aimed at bolstering bilateral maritime security and cooperation between the two nations.
