Indian states host outreach programmes to leverage Free Trade Agreements

State governments in Haryana and Telangana have organized outreach programmes to help exporters, manufacturers, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) utilize Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to access international markets.

In Haryana, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) participated in a workshop organized by the Directorate of MSME. The initiative aimed to help the gem and jewellery sector leverage preferential market access in partner countries such as the UAE, Australia, the UK, and the European Union. GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali noted that FTA partner countries import over US$ 55 billion of jewellery annually, providing a competitive advantage through zero-duty access.

In Telangana, the Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Office of the Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, held a mega outreach programme. The event focused on expanding export potential in sectors including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, engineering, and food processing. Industries and Commerce Minister D. Sridhar Babu emphasized the state's goal to support India's target of achieving USD 1 trillion in exports during the current financial year.
