Indian Super League season postponed to October

The upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season has been postponed until after October 6, 2024, to align with the FIFA international match window. The delay follows the absence of a finalized broadcast partner, with clubs considering streaming options on YouTube to maintain visibility.

The league will proceed with 13 teams. Diamond Harbour FC, the newly promoted champions of the Indian Football League, faces uncertainty regarding its participation after failing to meet the deadline for its second participation fee installment. Conversely, Churchill Brothers has secured its spot in the league after paying the full fee following the withdrawal of Jamshedpur FC.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has defended its decision to prioritize high-profile international friendlies, including a match against Brazil scheduled for October 3. The federation is also reportedly in discussions with Cape Verde for additional fixtures to boost fan engagement and national team preparation.
