Indiana flood relief: $100 million distributed to 21,000 households

More than 21,000 Indiana households have received a portion of $100 million in state and federal aid following severe storms and flooding that impacted central Indiana. Governor Mike Braun reported that $89 million has been distributed through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), with the total combined state and federal assistance exceeding $100 million.

Recovery efforts have focused on debris removal and providing direct financial aid to homeowners to facilitate safe and sanitary returns to their residences. While FEMA assistance varies by individual damage levels, state-level grants have averaged approximately $4,000 per family, with a maximum of $5,000. Additionally, the state has extended housing vouchers for displaced families.

In Muncie, one of the five storm-damaged locations in Indiana, volunteers from Southern Baptist Disaster Relief are assisting residents with cleanup tasks. These volunteers, traveling from various states including North Carolina and Michigan, are working to remove damaged furniture, drywall, and treat mold in affected homes.
