Overview

Extreme rainfall, tornadoes, and a derecho have caused catastrophic flooding across Indiana, resulting in at least eight deaths. Infrastructure damage remains significant, including the collapse of the Hazel Dell Parkway bridge in Carmel.

In September, the Indiana Treasury Department introduced the Recovery Advance Program for Infrastructure Damage (RAPID), offering $50 million in loans at a 2% interest rate to local government units to address needs in hard-hit areas like Connersville and Gary. Additionally, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security reported that more than 40,000 residents have applied for the State Disaster Relief Fund, with applications being processed through a vendor, Bright Harbor.
