Collegiate athletics updates: Tennis and soccer results across Midwest universities

Various collegiate athletic competitions took place across the Midwest on October 2 and 3.

In men's tennis at the ITA Central Regional, Illinois Wesleyan University saw mixed results. Freshman Umar Bajwa secured a singles victory against Ivan Wularu, while the doubles pairing of Weston Lange and Tommy Sopko advanced to the consolation round of 16 after defeating Baldwin Wallace University.

In women's tennis, Kansas State University earned six victories during the Hoosier Classic, including strong performances from Varya Bernovich and Marta Leon. At the same event, the University of Iowa secured four matches, highlighted by doubles wins from Emma Tothová and Emerey Gross. Meanwhile, Illinois Wesleyan's women's team fell to Wheaton College with a score of 6-1.

In soccer, the No. 6 ranked Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer team secured its sixth consecutive win, defeating Huntington University 3-1. Mariano Chaves contributed two goals to the victory. On the women's side, Illinois Wesleyan prepared to host Carthage College for a homecoming match following a previous draw against North Central.

In women's tennis, Illinois Wesleyan's Alassea Michel earned a singles win against Tatum Thurstone in a 6-1 loss to Wheaton.
