India's 2026 Medical Admission Counselling Announces Seat Availability

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released an indicative seat matrix for the second round of online centralised merit‑based counselling for DNB Post‑Diploma courses in the 2026 admission session. The matrix shows 1,863 vacant seats across a wide range of specialties, including anaesthesiology, dermatology, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, paediatrics and many others, at institutions spanning several states and union territories.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is also expected soon to publish the schedule for NEET UG 2026 counselling. Around 13.69 lakh candidates will compete for 1,36,939 MBBS and BDS seats offered through the MCC process, covering all‑India quota, central institutions such as AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMC and various university quotas. The MCC will open registration, collect counselling fees and security deposits, and later announce seat allotments for successful candidates.
