India NEET-UG 2026: MCC Round 2 schedule and state updates
Overview
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the Round 1 seat allotment results for the NEET-UG 2026 All India Quota, AIIMS, JIPMER, and various central and deemed universities. Candidates participating in this round must complete the admission process by 31 August. This year’s process features a ‘freeze and float’ system and expanded online document verification. Regarding financial implications, the MCC has implemented a ‘free exit’ policy for Round 1, allowing students to withdraw without losing their security deposit. However, students allotted a seat in Round 2 who fail to join will face forfeiture of their deposit.
Following the Round 1 cycle, the MCC has detailed the Round 2 counseling schedule for All India Quota, Deemed University, and Central University seats. Registration and fee payment are scheduled for 3 to 8 September, with choice filling available until 9 September. A specific window for locking choices is set between 4:00 PM on 8 September and 10:00 AM on 9 September. Seat allotment results for Round 2 are expected on 11 September, with reporting to institutes required between 12 and 18 September. State-level counseling for Round 2 is scheduled for 7 to 11 September.
At the state level, the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) is expected to release Round 1 seat allotment results for MBBS and BDS courses under the state quota on 31 August after 4 PM. Allotted candidates in West Bengal must complete admission and physical reporting between 1 September and 5 September. Other state processes, such as those in Karnataka and Punjab, have previously faced delays linked to the MCC timeline.
