India's 8th Central Pay Commission has not yet submitted recommendations

The Government of India has clarified that the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) has not yet submitted its recommendations regarding pay and pension revisions for central government employees and pensioners. In response to a Lok Sabha inquiry, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary stated that no final implementation date or fitment factor has been determined because the commission's report is still pending.

The Ministry of Finance noted that the commission's constitution does not require it to provide regular updates on its consultation process to the government. While a specific submission date was not confirmed by the government, reports indicate the commission may submit its recommendations by the first half of next year.

Additionally, the 8th CPC has issued a notification revising eligibility criteria for consultant appointments. The commission has established three categories: Senior Consultant (minimum 10 years experience, max age 45), Consultant (minimum 6 years experience, max age 40), and Young Professional Consultant (minimum 2 years experience, max age 32).
