Amit Shah orders high‑tech security grid for Amarnath Yatra

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high‑level security review in New Delhi ahead of the 57‑day Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to run from 3 July to 28 August. He directed the creation of a multi‑layered security grid along the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, calling for extensive deployment of drones, high‑definition CCTV, and integrated control rooms to monitor the pilgrimage area in real time.

Shah also ordered QR‑code identity cards for all local service providers and animals, registration of pilgrims, and health‑screening camps for ponies. Movement of pilgrim convoys will be regulated according to weather forecasts, and senior officers from the Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu & Kashmir Police and the Indian Army will be posted at key camps throughout the journey. The meeting, attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the Army chief and senior intelligence and police officials, reviewed logistical preparations, disaster‑management protocols and inter‑agency coordination.

The measures aim to ensure a safe, incident‑free pilgrimage for thousands of devotees while strengthening security at other major tourist sites across Jammu & Kashmir.
