India's AYUSH Ministry endorses Half Matsyendrasana for diabetes, constipation and stress relief
The Ministry of AYUSH in New Delhi has highlighted the Half Matsyendrasana yoga pose as beneficial for a range of health issues. Regular practice is said to improve adrenal gland function, activate the pancreas, and aid people with diabetes. The pose also strengthens the spine, enhances muscle flexibility, boosts blood circulation, supports detoxification and helps alleviate constipation, asthma and other digestive problems.
Guidelines advise performing the posture on a yoga mat, starting from a seated Dandasana, bending the right knee outward, keeping the left foot flat, rotating the head to the right and breathing deeply for about 30 seconds. Practitioners should avoid midday sessions, choose sunrise or sunset times, and consult a qualified yoga instructor before beginning.
