India's BJP and INDIA bloc clash over election integrity and leadership
Political tensions in India have escalated as the opposition INDIA bloc and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) trade accusations regarding electoral integrity and leadership.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has accused the BJP of “stealing votes” and has called for fresh elections in Bihar and West Bengal, alleging that recent polls were “fraudulent.” Yadav expressed concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and announced that opposition parties will hold a “Save Democracy March” at the district level from October 2 to October 8 to protest against the current administration.
In response, the BJP has criticized the INDIA bloc's recent meeting, labeling the outcomes as having “zero vision, 100 per cent frustration, and an advance excuse for poll defeats.” Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan claimed the opposition alliance is crumbling, alleging that member parties are unwilling to accept Rahul Gandhi as their leader. Chouhan further suggested that the lack of attendance from key parties like the DMK and AAP indicates internal instability within the bloc.
