India BJP and INDIA bloc political conflict

Overview

Political tensions in India have intensified between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition INDIA bloc. Opposition leaders, including Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav, have accused the BJP of “stealing votes” and conducting “fraudulent” elections. In response to concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, opposition parties planned a “Save Democracy March” across various districts in early October.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has further escalated the rhetoric, calling for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and alleging that the BJP has used manipulation to win previous elections. Banerjee has urged the INDIA bloc to maintain unity against the BJP, which she claims is fostering an environment of “anarchy and autocracy.”

The BJP has dismissed these allegations, characterizing the opposition alliance as having “zero vision, 100 per cent frustration” and suggesting that the bloc is internally unstable due to disagreements over leadership.
