India's central government pledges full aid after floods hit Arunachal Pradesh

Heavy rainfall, cloudbursts and flash floods devastated the Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh, causing casualties and severe damage to roads, bridges, homes and crops. Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Kiren Rijiju visited the affected areas on June 30, met with residents and local officials, and pledged joint central‑state assistance.

The ministers said a detailed assessment would be carried out, promising no shortcomings in relief, rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts. Chouhan, who could not conduct an aerial survey due to weather, announced plans for a ground and helicopter inspection of flood‑hit zones in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Chief Minister Pema Khandu welcomed the visit, stating it reflects the Government of India's continued support.

Central authorities, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directions, pledged to provide all necessary assistance to farmers and families, including relief supplies, infrastructure repair and future flood‑mitigation measures.
