India's 'Cockroach' protest buoyed by mass food deliveries
Supporters across India are sustaining the ongoing "Cockroach" protest in New Delhi by ordering meals through online food‑delivery apps. Riders on motorbikes bring burgers, pizza, snacks and bottled water to the Jantar Mantar encampment, where volunteers collect and hand out the food to thousands of demonstrators.
The protest began over leaked medical‑college and government‑job exam papers and has grown into a broader call for accountability, drawing students, young professionals and parents. Despite a police crackdown that used tear gas and batons to stop a march toward Parliament, the crowd remains, bolstered by the steady stream of donated meals. Organisers have even asked supporters to pause orders as the volume now exceeds the number of protesters on site.
