India's Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal Leads New York Roundtable with Global CEOs
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal visited New York on 28 May 2026 and held one‑to‑one meetings with CEOs of Carlyle Group, Morgan Stanley, Warburg Pincus, Amneal Pharmaceuticals and Mastercard. He addressed a gathering of more than 50 business leaders at a roundtable organised with the US‑India Strategic Partnership Forum, discussing ways to deepen India‑US trade, investment, supply‑chain resilience, digital payments, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
Goyal announced on the social platform X that the discussions also covered India‑Canada trade, noting current bilateral trade of about $8.5 billion and a target of $50 billion by 2030, as well as ongoing negotiations for the India‑Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The engagements underscored India’s reform‑driven business environment and its growing appeal to global investors.
