India’s CRPF Enhances Security for Shri Amarnath Yatra as Pilgrimage Crowds Gather

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has stepped up night patrols at the Dhonipora Naka post to protect pilgrims on the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026, amid a series of security and weather-related events across India. Heavy rain caused water‑logged sections on Mumbai’s coastal road and brought relief to heat‑stricken areas of Ayodhya, while a fire broke out early in Delhi’s Keshav Puram, extinguished without injuries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Arul Mihu Navashakti Vinayakar Temple in Victoria and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan attended the Snana Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri. In a political development, luggage belonging to Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi was transferred to opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav’s residence after security was withdrawn.

Outside India, Pakistani military airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktika, Paktia and Kunar provinces killed more than 30 civilians. In Europe, a sky‑diving aircraft crashed near Nancy, France, killing 11 people. A bear briefly entered a residential area in Maharashtra before being driven back to the forest.
