India's draft electoral rolls cut 34 lakh voters in Haryana

The Election Commission of India announced that 34.02 lakh voter records – about 16.5% of Haryana’s electorate – were excluded from the draft electoral roll for 2026 after being flagged as permanently shifted, deceased, absent or duplicate. The state completed distribution of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration forms, with more than 1.72 crore forms digitised covering 83.5% of voters. Electors whose signed forms are received before the deadline will be retained; others may submit Form‑6 or Form‑8 during the claims and objections period to contest omission.

In the Union Territory of Chandigarh, the enumeration phase concluded with 87.2% of the 5.16 lakh registered voters submitting forms, while 12.8% remained uncollected and will not appear in the draft roll unless added back through Form‑6 during the objections window. The process involved district election officers, Booth Level Officers and party agents, with full distribution achieved within the first week of the SIR exercise.
