India's DRDO conducts successful test of long‑range land‑attack cruise missile

On 15 June 2026, India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) launched the indigenous Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha, meeting all planned objectives.

The missile, developed wholly with DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners, was monitored by the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur. Senior DRDO officials, along with representatives of the Indian Navy and Air Force, observed the flight. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the team, and DRDO chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh oversaw the operation.

The LRLACM trial follows a series of tests carried out on 13 June, which demonstrated multi‑layered ballistic missile defence interceptors and a naval anti‑ship missile, highlighting India's move toward self‑reliant, long‑range strike capabilities.
