India's E20 fuel policy challenged by Samajwadi Party leaders

Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav alleged that automobile manufacturers are colluding with the central government over the proposed E20 fuel, claiming they profit by selling more spare parts and benefit from the policy. He warned that the auto industry may be working behind the scenes to promote the fuel.

In the parliamentary monsoon session, SP MP Dimple Yadav demanded that auto companies provide certification that E20 petrol can be safely used in engines, citing concerns about engine damage, reduced mileage and the lack of government guidelines. Both leaders framed the issue as a matter affecting public welfare and used it to criticize the Modi government’s handling of fuel policy.
