Arvind Kejriwal leads protest against India's E20 ethanol‑blended petrol policy
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced a march to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence with about 100 supporters and more than two lakh petitions opposing the mandatory rollout of E20 (20 % ethanol‑blended) petrol. The government defends the programme, saying it has saved roughly $20 billion in foreign‑exchange reserves since 2014‑15 and boosted farmer incomes, but critics point to reports of vehicle performance loss, engine wear, water contamination in fuel and a 3‑5 % drop in mileage. The controversy has mobilised hundreds of thousands of motorists and sparked a broader debate over India’s bio‑fuel strategy.
