Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal led a march toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on 4 August 2026, accompanied by about 100 supporters and carrying more than 2.3 lakh petitions demanding a halt to the mandatory rollout of E20 ethanol‑blended petrol. Delhi police stopped the procession at Firoz Shah Road and the leaders staged a sit‑in on the same road.

Kejriwal and other AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, claim the E20 blend reduces vehicle mileage by 2‑6 percent, damages engines and raises maintenance costs, especially for older vehicles. The government, however, says the policy has saved roughly $20 billion in foreign‑exchange reserves since 2014‑15 and boosted farmer incomes by about $16.4 billion.

The Punjab Assembly passed a resolution urging the centre to suspend the mandatory rollout, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh filed a Rule 267 notice seeking parliamentary discussion of the issue. Kejriwal also accused the centre of yielding to pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump to import ethanol, urging Modi not to bow to that influence.
