India's Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Faces Student Protest Over Paper Leaks
Students from several Indian states converged on Delhi's Jantar Mantar to protest recurring paper‑leak incidents in competitive examinations. They demanded a transparent inquiry, strict action against those responsible, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, whom they accused of dismissing their concerns.
Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal responded by sharing the minister’s remarks on social media, criticizing Pradhan for calling the demonstrators “people who want to break the country.” Kejriwal described the statement as arrogant and said the students were merely seeking fairness in the exam system. The AAP has repeatedly highlighted the alleged organized nature of paper leaks, citing the mental distress and suicides among aspirants.
The protests underscore growing frustration among young Indians over perceived systemic corruption in the examination process and have heightened political pressure on the education ministry.
