CJP warns Indian government of fresh nationwide protests over alleged FIR breach
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) ended its 49‑day agitation on 25 July 2026 after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the Centre pledged a written agreement to withdraw FIRs against protesters, provide compensation to families of suicide victims linked to the NEET paper‑leak controversy and consider a five‑point examination‑reform charter.
CJP leaders now allege the government has breached that agreement, reporting hundreds of student arrests and new FIRs filed in Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Delhi and other states, as well as surveillance and harassment of volunteers. Spokespersons Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ratna Singh warned that the party will resume nationwide protests if a written copy of the July 25 commitments is not supplied by 28 July 2026.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal pledged ₹1 crore to set up a legal‑assistance platform and the party launched an online portal “Saakshi” for protesters to upload evidence of police action. Similar allegations of harassment were made by the Rajasthan Police, prompting another warning of fresh agitation. Rahul Gandhi later visited the home of viral CJP protester Mohammed Irfan, highlighting the movement’s broader public profile.
