India's EV market expands with budget Blinq RYDE launch and record two-/three-wheeler sales
The budget Blinq RYDE electric hatchback entered the Indian market on 28 May 2026, priced between ₹4.5 lakh and ₹5 lakh. It offers a 250 km range, five‑seat compact design and features such as touchscreen infotainment, ABS and fast‑charging capability, targeting urban commuters, fleet operators and first‑time EV buyers.
In May 2026, India's electric two‑wheelers recorded 170,733 retail registrations, a 62.8% year‑on‑year increase and a market share of 9.3%. TVS Motor Company remained the leader with 42,459 units, followed by Bajaj (39,202), Ather Energy (28,240), Hero MotoCorp (19,067) and others. The electric three‑wheelers posted 71,867 registrations, up 8.6% year‑on‑year, achieving a 64.4% market share. Bajaj topped the three‑wheel segment with 11,905 units.
These figures show rapid growth in India's electric mobility sector, moving beyond early adopters toward broader consumer acceptance.
