India's FSSAI suspends licences of Delhi hotel and Mumbai clubs for hygiene breaches

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) cancelled the licence of the Park Plaza Hotel in Delhi’s Shahdara area after an inspection uncovered critical violations, including the use of heavily deteriorated cooking oil, pest infestations, visible fungal growth on produce, cross‑contamination between vegetarian and non‑vegetarian items, and storage of expired food. The regulator gave the hotel 15 days to remedy the issues before the licence would be permanently withdrawn.

In a related enforcement drive, FSSAI also suspended the licences of five prominent clubs in Greater Mumbai – the Cricket Club of India Ltd, RK Juhu Gymkhana, Aparna Juhu Gymkhana, MIG Cricket Club and Willingdon Sports Club – after inspectors found cockroach and fly infestations, water leakage onto stored food, spoiled vegetables, expired products, inadequate segregation of food types and poor personal‑hygiene practices among staff. Both actions are part of a wider crackdown on food‑safety violations across India.
