India's FSSAI suspends Rehaan Healthcare's license over severe food safety violations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended the manufacturing licence of Rehaan Healthcare after an inspection of its health‑supplements and nutraceuticals unit uncovered serious non‑compliance. The facility, which produces digestive syrup, multivitamin syrup and other syrup‑based products, received an overall compliance score of only 12 percent.

Inspectors reported extremely unhygienic and disorganized conditions: filth and sludge under tanks, improper raw‑material storage, poor housekeeping, inadequate ventilation and lighting, damaged infrastructure, pest infestation, and no valid drinking‑water test report. Spider webs, mould, flies and exposed food waste were also observed, creating a high risk of cross‑contamination for products consumed by children and other vulnerable groups.

FSSAI ordered an immediate halt to all production and food‑business activities until the deficiencies are corrected and compliance is verified by the competent authority. The regulator warned that any breach of the suspension order will attract legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
