India's monsoon brings uneven rainfall to Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan

India’s monsoon this season has been markedly uneven across several states. In Madhya Pradesh, rainfall is 14 % below normal, with Alirajpur district experiencing a 78 % deficit, leaving only 1.16 lakh hectares of kharif crops sown versus 1.89 lakh hectares last year. Other districts such as Rewa, Jhabua and Shivpuri also recorded significant shortfalls, while Dewas saw 51 % above‑normal rain.

In Haryana, the weather bureau issued alerts for 13 districts, including orange warnings for Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Karnal and yellow alerts for districts such as Gurgaon and Faridabad. The showers have lowered temperatures and are expected to continue intermittently through late July, providing relief to farmers after a heat spell.

Rajasthan has received heavy to very heavy rain, with Chhipa Barod in Baran district recording the highest amount at 14 cm. Other districts reported 5–9 cm of rain, and forecasts predict continued moderate to heavy showers across Kota, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions through July 22‑26.
