India's Jantar Mantar student protests draw Bollywood and opposition support

Students at Delhi's Jantar Mantar have staged a large‑scale protest demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan after a leaked examination paper scandal. The demonstrators have called for accountability and have received widespread sympathy across the country.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan used his X account to urge students to return home, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of strict action against those responsible for the leak and stressing that “students are our top priority.”

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by other MPs, travelled to Gandhi Smriti, where they were briefly blocked by police. Gandhi addressed the crowd, saying “No one can stop us from standing with the students of India,” and pledged continued parliamentary support for the demonstrators.
