India's Lok Sabha Introduces Public Exams Amendment Bill, Minister Jitendra Singh Announces

During the seventh day of the monsoon session, Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh presented the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha. The bill seeks to amend the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, strengthening safeguards against paper‑leak incidents and ensuring greater transparency in national examinations.

Singh cited historic leaks under previous governments, such as the 2009 railway recruitment and the 2012 medical entrance exam, to justify the need for a robust, full‑proof system. The legislation, first introduced in 2024 and enacted in June 2024, aims to protect the future of students by prohibiting any manipulation of exam outcomes. The debate is scheduled to continue alongside other parliamentary business throughout the session.
