India's Meteorological Dept Issues Orange Rain Warning for North Bengal
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts in North Bengal, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Koch Bihar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri. The alert cites risks of landslides and waterlogging in the hilly areas.
In South Bengal, the IMD has placed yellow warnings for districts such as South 24‑Parganas, Medinipur, Baghmara, Murshidabad and Birbhum, indicating the possibility of thunderstorms and strong gusts. Kolkata is expected to see only light to moderate rain with no heavy downpours, though humidity will remain high. Residents are advised to carry umbrellas, avoid unnecessary travel in mountainous zones, and stay alert for sudden weather changes.
