India NEET 2026 exam dates, re‑exam results and counselling timeline
The National Testing Agency (NTA) scheduled the NEET UG re‑examination for 21 June 2026 after the original May 3 exam was cancelled amid paper‑leak allegations. Over 22 lakh candidates sat the re‑test at more than 5,400 centres in India and 14 abroad. The agency said the provisional answer key was released on 25 June, with objections closed on 28 June. An OMR response sheet is expected by 5 July and the final answer key by 10 July, after which the re‑exam results will be announced on 20 July. The Medical Counselling Committee will begin seat allocation for MBBS, BDS and other undergraduate medical courses later in July or early August, keeping the academic session on schedule.
Separately, the NEET‑PG postgraduate exam is set for 30 August 2026. The exam will feature 180 multiple‑choice questions split into five sections of 36 questions each, with 42 minutes allocated per section and a lock‑out timer after each section. New measures include random centre allocation, mandatory biometric verification and digital facial recognition, and the removal of the "first‑come, first‑served" centre selection. Candidates must hold an MBBS degree, registration with the National Medical Commission or a state medical council, and have completed a rotatory internship. The total number of PG seats in India now exceeds 80,000, spread across more than 450 government and private medical colleges.
