India's NEET 2026 Re‑Exam Results Expected as Parliament Reviews NTA Reforms
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET‑UG 2026 re‑examination on 21 June after the original test was cancelled over a paper‑leak allegation. More than 20 lakh candidates appeared at over 5,500 centres in India and abroad. A provisional answer key was released on 25 June, and the agency has recorded over 10,000 objections, which are being examined by subject‑matter experts.
NTA Director‑General Abhishek Singh said the agency is now evaluating OMR sheets and expects to announce the results in the first week of July, faster than the normal cycle. Meanwhile, a parliamentary standing committee on education, chaired by MP Mukul Wasnik, is set to meet on 1 July to assess the re‑exam’s conduct, security measures, and broader reforms. Members urged granting statutory status to the NTA, recommending phased exam dates across states to ease logistical pressure, and cautioned that a shift to computer‑based testing should only proceed once digital infrastructure is in place, especially for marginalised candidates. The panel will also discuss the role of artificial intelligence in education.
The re‑exam was held under tightened security, including biometric verification, CCTV, and AI monitoring, and accommodated thousands of candidates with disabilities and medical conditions.
