India's Owaisi calls for transparent voter‑roll revision in Telangana

AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi submitted a representation to Telangana's Chief Electoral Officer, C. Sudarshan Reddy, urging the Election Commission to conduct the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls transparently and to include all genuine voters. He said that some electors are being incorrectly classified as non‑first‑time voters and their Form 6 applications are rejected, despite no duplicate entries. Owaisi highlighted the difficulty for poor voters to fill the pre‑printed 2026 form with data dating back to 2002, especially during the monsoon season, noting that Booth Level Officers have already mapped his constituency of 1.8 million voters.

He also blamed US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the global oil and gas crisis, accusing them of destabilising the world economy and urging them to stop what he described as a war that is harming millions, including in India. The SIR process is scheduled to begin on 15 June 2026.
