India's PM GatiShakti initiative evaluates 396 infrastructure projects

Under the PM GatiShakti initiative, 396 infrastructure projects with an estimated total cost of Rs 18.66 lakh crore have been evaluated by the Network Planning Group (NPG). Of these projects, 256 have been sanctioned, with 198 currently under implementation.

The projects cover multiple sectors, including highways, railways, power, ports, civil aviation, and telecommunications. The initiative utilizes a “Whole of Government” approach to integrate planning across various central ministries, states, and union territories to improve logistics efficiency and reduce costs.

Data indicates that India’s logistics cost is estimated at 7.9 per cent of the GDP, a level comparable to advanced economies. The integrated planning framework aims to enhance domestic manufacturing and export competitiveness by improving connectivity and reducing turnaround times.
