India's Potential September Cricket Tour of Bangladesh Awaits Government Approval

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are in talks to schedule a white‑ball series – either a three‑match T20I or ODI programme – in the first two weeks of September 2026. Both boards prefer to hold all matches at a single venue, with Dhaka and Chattogram identified as the leading options. The series can proceed only after the Indian government grants clearance and if the previously‑arranged T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi, slated for mid‑September, is postponed or rescheduled.

India will complete its Test series against Sri Lanka by 27 August, after which there is a short window before the West Indies limited‑overs tour of India begins in late September. Improved diplomatic ties have revived interest in restoring bilateral cricket ties that were strained last year, when the tour was cancelled and players were excluded from the IPL. No official announcement has been made yet, but the boards are finalising the itinerary pending the required approvals.
