India's Prime Minister Modi stalls at Delhi airport for 45 minutes to ease NEET exam traffic
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday after a visit to West Bengal. The NEET‑UG re‑exam, a nationwide medical‑college entrance test, was scheduled to start at 2 p.m. with more than 2.2 million candidates traveling to over 5,440 centres in India and 14 abroad. To prevent his convoy from blocking routes needed by thousands of students, the Prime Minister’s team kept the motorcade at the airport until the exam began. After the 2 p.m. start, Modi’s officials departed for his residence. Officials said the decision was taken to avoid traffic disruptions that could hinder examinees reaching their test centres. The NEET‑UG re‑exam is being conducted under tight security, including CCTV, signal jammers and biometric verification, following previous controversies over paper leaks and cheating.
