India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans mid‑year visit to Indonesia, officials say

Indonesia’s Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya met with Indian Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty in Jakarta to review bilateral cooperation and prepare for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled mid‑year visit to Indonesia. The ambassador noted the presence of more than 150,000 Indians living in Indonesia and stressed that the visit would be a milestone for the 76‑year strategic partnership, opening new opportunities in trade, investment, maritime and digital connectivity.

The meeting referenced earlier high‑level exchanges, including defence talks and digital‑tech cooperation, and highlighted that Modi’s trip will reciprocate President Prabowo Subianto’s attendance at India’s Republic Day ceremony in New Delhi in January 2025. Both sides expect the visit to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.

“During the meeting, Ambassador Chakravorty specifically requested time to convey several points regarding developments in cooperation between Indonesia and India,” the Cabinet Secretariat said, adding that the visit aims to strengthen strategic ties that have grown through recent ministerial engagements.
